What are Bik Credits?

The monthly platform fee for BIK is $499, which enables a Shopify merchant to send upto 50,000 WhatsApp messages to their Indian customers.

Upon installation and approval of BIK charges, 330 Bik Credits are added to the merchant's account. Sending 1,000 WhatsApp messages through BIK requires 6.6 Bik Credits. Therefore, 330 Bik Credits allow for the sending of 50,000 WhatsApp messages.

How does billing for BIK happen?

Billing happens through Shopify only. The charges, ie. $499 will be collected along with your monthly Shopify billing itself.

  1. Are Bik Credits deducted for SMS and Emails sent through BIK?

    Bik Credits are only deducted for WhatsApp messages. To send SMS and Emails, ensure that your respective SMS(Trust Signal or Text Local) and Email partners (Sendgrid) have sufficient balance

  2. Can I send WhatsApp messages to my customers outside of India as well?

    Yes, it can be done. The deduction of Bik credits will be done basis the receiving customer’s country. The values for different countries are mentioned here.k Credits

  3. How much messages can I send monthly across channels?

    Only WhatsApp uses Bik Credits, hence monthly cap exists only for this channel. The number of messages that can be sent depends on destination country of user’s phone numbers. Taking an example with only Indian customers for a merchant, the maximum number of messages that can be sent would be calculated as:

    330(Total available credits)/ 0.0066(per message price for India)=50,000

    For other channels, Bik doesn’t put any checks on the number of messages that can be sent. Hence any number of messages can be sent assuming the balance is maintained in your respective SMS and Email partners

    No, Bik Credits are NOT refundable

  5. Do my Bik Credits from my last billing cycle carry over in the new billing cycle of BIK?

    No, Bik Credits are assigned for a particular billing cycle of Bik, hence they don’t carry over
